Six Prem players that struggled with their temper

Dele Alli may have let his temper get the better of him the other night, but thankfully the Tottenham talent is long way from matching these guys on the rage-o-meter

Luis Suarez

Suarez is sick. He was incredible in the prem and he’s banging goals like there’s no tomorrow in La Liga – he’s even outscoring Messi and Ronaldo. The problem is the biting (among other things).

Joey Barton

Barton regularly shows signs of his brilliance. He racks up assists for whichever team he plays for. But his career is constantly hampered by moments of lunacy. He’s no stranger to an FA violent conduct charge. His record includes assaulting former teammate Ousmane Dabo, for punching Morten Gamst Pedersen and for attacking three Manchester City players on the final day of the 2011–12 season. Madness.

Roy Keane

Keane was one of United’s great players. He won the Premier League seven times and has a Champions League to medal to his name too. He was undoubtedly a top player, and his rivalry with Patrick Vieira is legendary. But his short temper and questionable challenges regularly got him in trouble. He amassed a total of 11 cards in his career, and his worst moment came with his deliberate challenge on City’s Alf-Inge Haaland. Grim.

Eric Cantona

Cannot was strong, skilful and downright brilliant. He worked hard and produced moments of sheer excellence on the pitch. But he always struggled with his temper and produced some ludicrous leaping tackles over the years, but the moment he truly saw red was in ’95 when he leaped into the crowd to kung-fu kick a fan. Madness.

Vinnie Jones

Jones has a reputation as a football hardman, and for good reason. He was big, strong and wasn’t afraid to put a big tackle in. He managed to break a record by getting a yellow card in just five seconds. He will also be remembered for grabbing Gazza’s jewels.

Kevin Muscat

Kevin had a habit of putting in hideous tackles. But the bigger problem was that he was he wasn’t above throwing an elbow or brawling with management on the sideline
