L'Eroica Britannia

What: Presented by Maserati, it’s billed as the ‘world’s most handsome bike ride’, with 4,500 riders on classic bikes in vintage kit pedalling around the Peak District.

When: 16-18 June

Why: The ride is just one element of a three-day festival where the emphasis is very much on fun.

Now in its fourth year, L’Eroica Britannia was inspired by the original Eroica event in Italy. There are three routes available, from 25-miles up to the seriously challenging 100-mile course, so no matter what your ability there is a route to suit. All are designed to show off the Peaks and take you away from busy roads as much as possible. The only rule is that your bike must have been built before 1987!

For £65 you will get a spot on the ride on Sunday 18 June and as much as you can eat/drink at the food stops, as well as the chance to test yourself against Martin Fry (of ABC) and Channel 4 commentator and former pro David Millar who are both signed up to ride. You will also get entry to the 3-day festival which features live music (Norman Jay and ABC headline), best in show, vintage stalls, kids stuff, gin bars… Camping and glamping is also an option.

‘You don’t have to go fast, there’s no competition. It’s just another reason to get another bike, get dressed up and have some fun.” David Millar
