The butler did it

This real-world BB-8 droid proves that robot servants are the future (of laziness)

In Japan robots attend school, work in shops and almost certainly laugh at their pathetic human masters when nobody’s watching. The UK isn’t far behind, with Pizza Hut recently announcing its first robot employee and Asus launching this beauty, the Zenbo. The cute droid, inspired by BB-8 of Star Wars fame, can control your smarthome, order online shopping and babysit your nephew. Which leaves you free to worry yourself silly that humans will become obsolete.

Asus Zenbo ()

Asus’ robo-slave rolls around your home lending a helping hand. It can look at your Tweets, read out a recipe while you cook, or turn the lights out at bedtime.

Zenbo is voice-controlled and has a touchscreen face that displays emotions. His camera ‘eyes’ can detect intruders – and take gratuitous selfies.
