500hp supercar saves the planet

Pininfarina, the Italian design firm that builds prototypes for Ferrari and Maserati, has released details of its jaw-dropping H2 Speed Hydrogen supercar. The 186mph carbon-fibre beast is fitted with a GreenGT drivetrain consisting of two electric motors powered by a hydrogen fuel cell. There’s no need for a gearbox and no emissions from the exhaust except a few drops of water.

While electric vehicles must be charged overnight, Pininfarina says its eco-friendly supercar can be refuelled at a hydrogen pump in three minutes. Expect a confused stare from the guy at the Wild Bean Cafe.
