Mate, lend us your tweezers: Darren Kennedy

We shoot the breeze with Ireland’s Most Stylish Man, Darren Kennedy.

You’re a brand ambassador for Specsavers; what tips do you have for finding glasses?

Ultimately it comes down to face shape and a style that compliments you. Someone with an angular face and strong jaw line will most likely look good in frames with soft, gentle round lines to contrast the angles of the face.

Is it important to look good in your job as a TV presenter?

Yes I think so. It’s a visual medium. But I think it’s important to be well turned out regardless of what you do. Our clothes are a very potent, non-verbal means of communicating goals, and the type of person you want to be.

You won Most Stylish Man in Ireland. Can you offer us any stylish words of wisdom?

Don’t overthink it, but do try on clothes before you buy. Fit is the single most important factor in looking good.

Who are your style icons?

Tom Ford, as much for his business flair as his sartorial credentials. David Beckham always nails it, too. Jeremy Hackett for his always elegant and distinctive man-about-town style.

Have you had any funny grooming fails?

Over the years, I’ve had more than I care to admit. I once nearly shaved off a nipple!

What’s the worst thing that’s happened on the red carpet during an interview?

Getting shat on by a seagull mid-interview (on the up side, it was a great ice-breaker!).
