5 top tips for whiter teeth

Looking after your gnashers is important. Here are five simple ways to keep them pearly white and stain-free...

1. Change your toothbrush

Replacing your brush every three months will make teeth cleaner because frayed bristles can’t clean properly.

2. Go electric

It’s worth investing in an electric brush if you can afford to. We like the Philips Sonicare FlexCare+ Sonic electric toothbrush, £200. While you’re at it, buy some floss and mouthwash to get rid of any leftover bacteria.

3. Stay away from the dark side

Coffee, black tea and red wine are among the worst for stains. If you can’t resist them, brush your teeth straight after drinking them. If it can stain a white T-shirt, it can stain your teeth.

4. Rinse with apple cider vinegar

We won’t lie, this tastes as gross as it sounds. But this is a natural way of whitening your teeth. Mix two-parts water with one-part vinegar, swish away for one minute and spit.

5. The back-up

Tried everything and still can’t shift stains? Go to a dentist for a thorough clean. They also offer professional whitening. If you’re doing a DIY job, Crest 3D Whitestrips, £29, are our favourite.
