Clothes that work for him and her

We select the best clothes that look as great on them as they do you, as modelled by Irish DJ Cici Cavanagh.

Cici Cavanagh first rose to public recognition in Ireland on a reality TV show called Fade Street, which followed the lives of twenty-something Dubliners back in 2011. While studying in Dublin a few years later, Cavanagh started throwing parties and DJing, and sh*t really, really popped off.

“The club scene in Dublin is small,” she says when we ask about her home city.

“The city has a small population, so if you’re going to throw an underground club event, it’s always going to be small. I was playing house and techno, and a mix of electronic music so it didn’t take long to outgrow the area – I was quickly playing the bigger parties and festivals and stuff. When you’re in your early twenties and you’ve already topped out in your own place, then you need to challenge yourself and move forward to the biggest thing you can do.”

First she headed to Ibiza, where she spent summer seasons as a club promoter and a DJ. Her next stop was London, and now, a few years later, the Irish DJ it's juggling a life between the Irish and English capitals and the Balearic island.

“I went [to Ibiza] eight times in the summer, and stayed for four or five days each time, so it’s been hectic. I had a residency at a beach club called Blue Marlin, and another at Pikes Hotel. It’s a famous old hotel where they shot the video for Club Tropicana by Wham! Freddie Mercury used to have his birthday parties there, and Grace Jones would hang out there the whole time, too, so it’s a cool spot with a cool history. I had a great summer.

“I did a few festivals, too. Lovebox was wicked, Gottwood in Wales was good too, and Electric Picnic in Ireland. So yeah, I’ve been DJing non-stop.”

Cavanagh lives in east London with a couple of other music producer/DJs, and luckily for her, they both have studios in the house. “I have a couple of synths in my room, but I always just go into the other guy’s rooms and play about on their equipment.”
